Thanks (I think) to fjm on lj for pointing me at the winners of this year's Bad Sex Awards these are definitely NC17, all het-male pov and confirm my belief that, in this area at least, amateurs do it better.

Though I have to admit that I don't think that Richard Millward belongs in this company - his scene has an authentic ring to it, and at least has the virtue of being intentionally funny.

One of the things that US slash writers find difficult in writing British canon is that the US and UK history of the gay community is so very different. Was listening to the trailer for this Sunday's broadcast of The Reunion which together Sir Ian McKellen, Matthew Parris, Lisa Power, Michael Cashman and Olivette Cole-Wilson, the men and women who founded the gay rights campaign group, Stonewall, and was struck by the reference to the formation of Stonewall as a response to Section 28 in terms which clearly had no idea of the reason for using 'Stonewall' as a name (the website link does include this).

Looks interesting (as The Reunion usually is). Pity that the BBC iPlayer is still restricted to UK listeners (though the direct broadcast stream is available, if you can work out the timezone shifts.

I tend to keep politics our of my journals, and particularly this one. And I didn't sign this petition because I do not approve of the culture of the present apologising for the past - it is meaningless rhetoric that can have no significance for the present day.

Except that the terms of the government's apology for the treatment of Alan Turing are astonishingly frank and helpful in legitimising the concerns of the present day LGBT community.

Wonder whether the BBC will re-broadcast its excellent dramatisation of Turing's story?

Also found a set of the Thoth tarot (the large cards designed by Crowley and painted by Lady Frieda Harris) in the local charity shop and browsed it home. The pack is complete, and apparently (unlike my own set) unused, so if there's anyone on my UK f-list in need of a pack let me know.
